I recently photographed the wedding of Emily and Andrew at Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham, located just outside Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. It was a beautiful day in late August, allowing for lots of stunning shots outside throughout the day.

I arrived early to photograph Emily, her bridesmaids and mum having their hair and make-up done in Feathers Hair Salon in Halstead. The bubbly was flowing as the girls got ready, with lots of excitement for the events to follow. We then made our way across to Emily’s Mum and Dad’s house, where Emily got into her beautiful wedding dress.

I then made my way over to the church where I met the groom Andrew, his best man and the ushers.  I captured some more photos of them and the guests as they waited for the arrival of the Bridal party. The ceremony was very emotional, with Emily herself shedding a tear as she met her husband-to-be at the altar.

After the ceremony, I captured the all-important throwing of the confetti, and the happiness on the faces of these lovely newlyweds! The couple then headed to their wedding reception at Blackthorpe Barn in a stunning vintage car.

Over at Blackthorpe Barn, Emily, Andrew and their friends and families had spent most of the day before decorating the barn and went for a rustic relaxed look. This is a beautiful venue for a wedding reception, and really came to life with vibrant flowers on the cake and the tables.

Guests were treated to drinks and garden games on arrival in the field next to the barn.  The wedding party made the most of this lovely sunny August day, chatting amongst themselves in the glorious sunshine.

Next followed the wedding breakfast, where I was treated to a delicious two course meal by the couple which was very welcomed to give me a boost for the evening celebrations. The speeches were filled with laughter and tears – it was a lovely moment to capture for them.

After the wedding breakfast, we headed outside to take a few couple shots in the beautiful surroundings of the barn.  Andrew had said he didn’t like his photo being taken, but he was soon feeling relaxed and handled it like a pro!

The guests enjoyed the celebrations into the early evening, with chatting and laughter filling the air. I stayed to capture Emily and Andrew enjoying their first dance, a beautiful sight as Emily’s stunning dress swished around the dance floor under the fairy-lit beams.  The wedding band were brilliant – they got everyone up and dancing, giving me a chance to capture some amazing dance moves!  I left as they all partied into the night…
