RELAXED WEDDING AT GAYNES PARK

I was honoured to capture the wedding of Amanda and Mark at Gaynes Park in Essex recently. We’d been speaking for months leading up to their special day, so I felt as though I knew them well by the time the big day arrived. I was therefore so excited to capture their big day in photographs for them to treasure. Gaynes Park is one of my favourite wedding venues, with so many opportunities for beautiful shots – a photographer’s dream!

Wedding preparations in the beautiful bridal cottage

I arrived early at the quaint little bridal cottage and waited for Amanda to arrive with her mum and her bridesmaids. Amanda had already had her make-up and hair done at home first so when she arrived at Gaynes Park she was ready to get into her beautiful dress and make those final essential touches before the ceremony. Amanda’s mum helped her into her dress, whilst her bridesmaids waited downstairs in anticipation.

I then shot off to meet Mark and his best man to capture the nerves and excitement before Mark went to meet his beautiful bride at the ceremony. I also captured guests arriving, who were equally excited to see the couple tie the knot.

A beautiful wedding ceremony at Gaynes Park

The ceremony was held in the beautiful bright orangery, flooding natural light onto happy friends and family who had come to celebrate the obvious love of this wonderful couple. The mood during the ceremony was filled with laughter and happiness which made for great natural photos, catching those un-staged moments as the couple made their vows to each other.

After the ceremony, the wedding guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the lawn, congratulating the happy couple and enjoying the glorious surroundings of this stunning venue.

So many stunning locations for wedding photography

We then went off for couple shots in the gorgeous grounds. The venue is so well thought out for photography, with lots of interesting settings to capture beautiful photographs. The flowers were in full bloom, adding splashes of colour to create beautiful photos of the newlyweds.

Guests then headed inside for the wedding breakfast and the speeches. The room had been beautifully decorated, with white lights dotted around the ceiling like fireflies, beautiful blooms on each table, and a stunning yet understated, semi-naked, wedding cake proudly announcing the new ‘Mr & Mrs Jackson’.

I was also treated to a delicious two course meal by Amanda and Mark and the venue looked after me extremely well, making sure I was fed and watered. So a huge thank you to Natalie and her incredible team at Gaynes Park.

Gaynes park has been so well thought out for photography

As day turned to night, the evening guests started to arrive. We took the opportunity to pop out again for some more couple shots – the light had changed and we were treated to some great moody skies overlooking the stunning Essex countryside. I always like to do my couple shots in two sessions if possible and my couple are up for it (most of them are), to take advantage of the changing light which creates a different mood.

I caught some final shots of the cake being cut and the first dance, where the couple were clearly still on cloud nine and elated that their big day had been so magical. I also caught some of the action on the dance floor, as guests let their hair down and danced into the night, which is where I left them…
