“Wow, I adore these. You have really caught the beauty of the day”

I was honoured to photograph the beautiful wedding of Scarlett and Vinu several weeks ago.  The ceremony took place in St Marys Church in the grounds of the stunning Culford School in Suffolk with the wedding reception being held in Culford School itself.  Scarlett and Vinu truly make the most adorable couple and are both so genuinely lovely, it was no wonder I was so excited to be a part of their big day.

I had the pleasure of photographing Scarlett’s mum and stepdad’s wedding a few years ago, so I was really excited when Sam, Scarlett’s mum, contacted me to tell me that her daughter was getting married and she’d love me to photograph their wedding too. It was lovely to see everyone again a few years on and be able to capture more special memories for their family.

I hadn’t met Vinu before, so the couple booked an engagement shoot with me, which was a great way to get to know them both more before the wedding. This really can help to make things feel much more relaxed for the couple on the big day too – we captured some beautiful pre-wedding photos on the engagement shoot in Brandon Country Park. You can see some of my favourites from the shoot here.

I started the day taking shots of the Bridal preparations in the morning at Scarlett’s mum’s house. I was also joined by the super talented Steve Hood Films who was making a film of the happy couple’s day. The atmosphere was relaxed but brimming with excitement for the wonderful day ahead.  The bride, her bridesmaids and family were all calm and happy, with lots of laughter as they got themselves ready.  When the flowers arrived I was taken aback by them, they were truly stunning as the pictures show!  The most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. Tudor Rose (in Bury St Edmunds) had really worked their wonderful magic again!

After taking some photos of Scarlett getting into her beautiful lace Suzanne Neville bridal gown, from House of Snow, I made my way over to the church to meet Vinu and capture photos of the couple’s wedding guests arriving. It was an emotional and beautiful ceremony – this young couple didn’t stop smiling the whole way through. I was able to capture some lovely natural shots during the ceremony, which reflect the love and happiness that filled the church that afternoon.

There was a huge downpour nearing the end of the ceremony, but umbrellas were at the ready to walk the short distance from the church to the reception at Culford School. Fortunately, the rain stopped just enough as the happy couple left the church, allowing guests to shower the newlyweds with confetti whilst I captured the special moment under a stunning wedding arch, bursting with beautiful blooms.

I ran around to Culford School to photograph the set up in the Grand Hall, whilst guests made their way over at a slower pace to enjoy drinks and canapés in the Red Room. The Grand Hall was breathtaking, and each table featured stunning floral centrepieces offering a burst of colour to the elegant decor. From the pearl detailing on the chair covers to the stunning cake (a delicious creation from Sassa’s Cakes) sprayed with more gorgeous roses – the attention to detail in the styling of the room was exceptionally beautiful.

I took the couple off for some portraits in the picture-perfect school grounds. We then headed back to the Grand Hall for the wedding breakfast where guests were waiting to welcome the newlyweds into the room.

Speeches were after dinner and were some of the most emotional speeches I think I have ever heard, especially when Vinu and his dad did theirs! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house, including mine!  The room was filled with love, laughter and tears – it was a very special moment and I was honoured to be there to capture those incredible memories for this wonderful family.

Luckily the rain and clouds had cleared after the speeches making way for some stunning light, and we were treated to an amazing golden hour (a photographers dream). I seized the opportunity to take Scarlett and Vinu outside again to capture some more couple shots under the bright, golden and beautiful early evening skies.

As the sun began to set, it was time for the first dance and evening celebrations. I caught some brilliant shots of guests letting their hair down on the dance floor and getting creative with props at the photobooth!  It looked like it was going to be a night to remember after a truly special day for the wonderful new Mr & Mrs.

It was an incredible day – emotional and beautiful. I wish Scarlett and Vinu a happy and wonderful life together and I feel truly blessed that I was part of your special day.  A huge thank you again to Sam and Steve for booking me.  It was so lovely to spend some more time with your beautiful family.
