Cotswolds Charm – Vicky & Matt’s Wedding
A few months ago, I headed to Merriscourt in Clipping Norton, Cotswolds to shoot the wonderful wedding of Vicky and Matt.
I’d had the pleasure of meeting the couple a few weeks before their wedding for an engagement shoot in London. This was great fun, it’s the perfect way to get used to being in front of the camera and they got some fab images too! You can see some of my favourites here.
It was my first time at this venue, so I arrived early to have a look around and explore the surroundings. I was completely blown away by how beautiful the venue was and knew I was going to get some great shots for the newlyweds.
The three converted Cotswold Barns surround a stunning courtyard, with amazing views across the rolling Cotswold countryside. Having travelled to Italy quite a few times, it really reminded of the beautiful Tuscan hills. It’s safe to say I was absolutely spoilt for stunning spots for weddings photos. I also caught up with the super-talented Michael from Capture Media who was filming for the day.
The venue was beautifully decorated with a pretty botanical theme. I loved the little details, including the eucalyptus hearts and handmade table plan – there was a romantic & rustic vibe to the theme which was really lovely.
I headed over to one of the cottages, where Vicky and her bridesmaids were getting ready. I was just in time to capture the bubbles being opened, marking the start of what was to be a wonderful day of celebration.
As the boys were getting ready close by in the other cottages, this gave me the opportunity to photograph them getting ready too which was a bonus. Everyone was very happy and relaxed as they got ready to head to the church.
I went over to the church to capture some shots of the guests as they arrived. It was a lovely ceremony full of smiling faces as the couple shared their vows. As they left the venue as man and wife, I captured the all-important confetti shot, before the bride and groom left and headed back to Merriscourt for their reception.
The couple chatted to their guests over some celebratory bubbles during their drinks reception, before I whisked them away for an idyllic stroll through the glorious Cotswold countryside, for some photos of just the two of them.
We were blessed with great light and no rain – Vicky’s gown looked stunning amongst the lush green of the fields…the groom looked pretty dapper in his suit too!
We headed back inside for the wedding breakfast. The tables were beautifully set with candles twinkling away, and laughter filled the room during the speeches.
Next, it was time to cut the stunning naked cake, featuring three delicious tiers decorated with fresh ivory blooms. I then took advantage of the changing light and ushered the couple outside for some more couple shots in a different area.
After a few yummy marshmallows toasting over the fire pit, the guests headed back in to dance the night away. Apparently there was a bet running that the groom would split his trousers (as he always does) from his dancing before the night was out!
There was a great party atmosphere, and everyone had a brilliant time on the dance floor – with some great pictures to prove it!
I left them all partying in to the night, with the groom’s trousers still in one piece (when I left anyway!)
